The focal point of your heating system is the boiler. To maximise fuel efficiency, you need to make certain your boiler is a modern, high efficiency model. The majority of new domestic high efficiency boilers installed today are ‘Combi’ boilers.
Boiler efficiency is important, not only does an efficient boiler produce less CO2 it also consumes less fuel for the same heat output, reducing your gas heating costs.
‘Alpha Next Generation’ boilers are high efficiency boilers for all house sizes and types. All are SEDBUK Band A efficiency rated and are Energy Trust recommended.
Boiler efficiency is rated as a percentage, assessing how much of the fuel that they consume is converted to heat. This rating is called SEDBUK which stands for - Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the UK. It represents the average annual efficiency achieved in typical domestic conditions.
SEDBUK was developed under the UK Government’s ‘Energy Efficiency Best
Practice Programme’ with the involvement of boiler manufacturers and, provides
a consistent basis for the comparison of the energy performance of different boilers.
To simplify the assessment SEDBUK ratings are from A to G. Only A rated boilers have efficiency ratings of over 90% and carry the energy saving recommended logo.
‘Combi’ boilers combine a high efficiency water heater and central heating boiler in one compact unit. There is no separate cylinder to be kept permanently topped-up with hot water.
They use far less gas than conventional boilers, heating water when there is an immediate demand delivering it hot, direct to the tap or shower.
Without the need for either loft-mounted cold water storage or an airing cupboard cylinder, combi-based systems also provide considerable space and installation cost savings over conventional systems.
Using the very latest technology and components to reduce the overall size of the boiler to 720mm x 440mm x 300mm, the Alpha ‘combi’ boiler fits neatly alongside standard kitchen units. Its casings have stylish, curved edges and a bright white high gloss finish enhancing its appearance.
The Alpha Next Generation boilers come with an array of standard features including a built-in seasonality valve, which automatically adjusts the hot water flow based on the temperature of the incoming mains supply.
All Alpha Boilers have an easy to understand control panel and a choice of wireless timer controls to suit your needs.
Next Generation boilers are covered by a 3-year guarantee as standard. For extra piece of mind if the boiler is fitted with the optional Premier Pack, you can benefit from some additional features and an extended guarantee, giving a total of 5 years.
Grampian Heat and Power is a trusted installer of ‘Alpha Next Generation’ energy efficient combination boilers.
Alpha’s innovative GasSaver unit uses Zenex technology and is a ‘top box’ that sits between the boiler and the flue.
GasSaver simply ‘plugs-in’ to the boiler flue and works by re-using heat normally lost through the flue to re-heat incoming cold water. The flue gases condense inside the unit creating a unique thermal store, which is then used to preheat water coming into the boiler from the domestic cold water supply.
The GasSaver unit, has a 3-year guarantee, is maintenance free and requires no controls or settings. It is compatible with all Alpha system and combination boiler ranges.
